LDI
These plates are designed for Laser Desorption Ionization MS for small molecules. They combine a hydrophilic silica surface sample spot on an otherwise hydrophobic sample plate of matrix. This yields reproducible, uniform spots in the same way as uFocus sample plates. They are also pre-spotted with a small amount of matirx, for efficient ionization. In the figure at left, spectra are compared for Verapamil on
(a) bare SS surface, relative principal ion intensity = 1.0
(b) uFocus with DHB, relative principal ion intensity = 9.2
(c) SiO2 only, relative principal ion intensity = 1.7 and
(d) SiO2 with DHB, relative principal ion intensity = 14.0.
Spectrum D shows the best combination of intensity and freedom from interfering peaks.
